The instrument is fully lubricated when leaving the factory and should not require further lubrication during use. Rockwell hardness testers should be wiped frequently with a soft cloth; take care to keep the anvil, indenter, extension rod, and hardness blocks dry and clean. The measuring surface of the hardness block must not be touched directly by hand.
