What precautions should be taken when operating a metallographic cutting machine?

There are many precautions when operating a metallographic cutting machine.
Equipment installation must be correct; it needs to be placed flat on a stable floor, and the height of the equipment's horizontal drain hole should be slightly lower. At the same time, install the inlet and outlet pipes correctly, ensuring the height of the drain pipe does not exceed the drain hole to guarantee that accumulated water inside the machine can flow out smoothly.
Before cutting, check whether the power supply voltage matches the specified voltage of the motor and whether the grounding is safe and reliable. After starting the motor, check whether the rotation direction of the motor shaft is correct; during cutting, sparks should fly downward. If the rotation direction is incorrect, it must be adjusted immediately.
It is strictly forbidden to use grinding wheels that already have cracks or damage for cutting to avoid danger.
It is not advisable to work without coolant or with insufficient coolant; otherwise, the sample quality may be affected or the cutting blade may even be damaged due to overheating.
The use of grinding wheels with a linear speed lower than 35 m/s is not allowed.
When clamping the specimen, ensure it is firm. During the cutting process, maintain a uniform feed. The coolant must be aimed at the cutting position of the specimen, and the coolant flow rate should be adjusted properly to avoid overflowing outside the machine.
After cutting is completed, clean up the debris and waste inside the machine body in a timely manner to keep the drainage smooth. Lubricating oil should be injected into each rotating part before operation, and the motor should also be maintained and cared for according to regulations.
